Editorial and AI Policy
Last updated: 16 Oct 2026
LegalBison advises founders and operators on licensing and regulatory compliance in crypto, gaming, fintech, and payments. The content we publish has to meet the same standard as the advice we give clients. This page explains how we create content, how we use AI, and who checks what we publish.
How we create content
Our content is a joint effort between our marketing, legal, and business development teams. We write because founders bring us real problems, and our content should help them solve those problems with confidence.
- Brief: Our marketing, legal, and business development teams plan each piece together, around the questions founders and clients actually ask us and the problems they need to solve. The brief sets out what the piece needs to cover to answer them properly.
- Draft: A first draft is produced with the help of AI tools, working from the brief and from primary sources.
- Edit and fact-check: A content writer, research specialist, or subject-matter expert rewrites the draft and verifies every claim against its primary source. Our content lead, who is accountable for the accuracy of everything we publish, then fact-checks it a second time.
- Expert input: All regulatory and licensing content is reviewed by our in-house legal team before it’s published. News articles also go to legal review when they make claims we need to verify.
- Sign-off: Our content lead approves every piece before it goes live.
Glossary entries, wiki entries, service pages, and news roundups go through the writing and fact-checking steps but not always through formal legal review. When they are, they show a “Reviewed by” line naming the member of our legal team who checked them.
How we use AI
Our team uses AI tools, including NotebookLM, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude, to help with research, outlining, first drafts, editing, and summarizing regulations. We also use AI to create some of the images on our site.
What we never use AI for
We do not use AI for any of the following:
- Legal conclusions or interpretations of the law
- Client-specific advice
- Final fact-checking
- Publishing content without a person editing and approving it
- Inventing sources, quotes, statistics, or case examples
- Stating regulatory figures such as fees, capital requirements, or timelines that have not been checked against an official source
- Writing author or reviewer bios, credentials, or bylines
- Creating client testimonials, reviews, or case studies
- Creating images of real people, including our team, clients, or regulators, or images presented as real documents, licenses, or certificates
We never enter client or confidential information into AI tools.
AI can produce statements that sound confident but are wrong. That’s why every AI-assisted draft is edited and fact-checked by a person, and why regulatory content is reviewed by our legal team before it’s published.
Who reviews our content
Every article names its author and, where it applies, its reviewer. Each name links to a profile on our About Us page covering that person’s role, background, and LinkedIn. A reviewer’s name appears on an article only if that person reviewed it.
Sources and accuracy
We base our content on primary sources: regulators, official gazettes, legislation, and court decisions. Where we cite a secondary source, we confirm the underlying facts against the original. Figures such as capital requirements, fees, and timelines come from official sources.
Keeping content current
Regulation in our sectors changes quickly. We audit published content at least every three months, and more often depending on how relevant it is to our readers and visitors. We also update articles as soon as a new regulation, a deadline change, or new regulator guidance affects them. Updated articles show a “last updated” date.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email us at [email protected] with the article link and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within 24 hours. When we correct an article, we update its “last updated” date.
Independence
Our editorial decisions are our own. No client, partner, or advertiser influences what we cover or how we cover it.
