A shareholder is a person who holds shares in a company, which are small pieces of ownership. When you become a shareholder, you own a certain portion of the company, which means that you have a certain degree of ownership in that business. As a shareholder, you can have voting rights in the company and receive a share of its profits, known as dividends.
