Outside Bet

Meaning and Definition of Outside Bet in Gambling

The term outside bet refers to a specific category of wagering options in roulette, characterized by their placement on the external perimeter of the table layout. Unlike inside bets, which target specific numbers or small groups thereof, outside bets encompass broader mathematical propositions, such as columns, dozens, or even-money outcomes including red/black, odd/even, and high/low (1-18 or 19-36). From a regulatory and technical compliance perspective, these betting structures must be clearly delineated on the physical or digital table cloth to ensure players can distinguish between the two primary wagering areas. Operators must ensure that the rules governing these bets, including minimum and maximum limits and the impact of the zero or double zero on payout ratios, are explicitly defined in the game’s terms and conditions to maintain transparency and fair play standards.
