Adrien Marchand

Senior Regulatory Specialist

Adrien Marchand is a web3 regulatory specialist whose work in corporate advisory covers crypto regulation, MiCA transition planning, and the digital asset compliance content infrastructure supporting the firm’s practice across more than 50 jurisdictions.

Professional Background

Adrien Marchand has worked in the crypto industry since 2019, with personal involvement in blockchain markets dating to 2018. He holds a Master’s degree in International Market Finance from the University of Lorraine, France. His academic work includes two unpublished theses: one examining KPI frameworks for corporate venture capital funds, and one addressing operational risk management methodologies in banking.

His professional background spans investment banking back office at Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, corporate services, and digital marketing roles before joining LegalBison six years ago.

His regulatory grounding comes from sustained monitoring of financial services frameworks across the firm’s active verticals: the FATF AML/CTF recommendations, MiFID, the Basel Committee framework, and the AMF professional knowledge standards for market participants. He reads and works across seven languages, extending his capacity to track regulatory developments across European and emerging markets.

Regulatory and Jurisdictional Expertise

Adrien’s primary expertise is at the intersection of FinTech regulation and digital asset compliance under the current EU framework. His advisory work has included regulatory analysis of on-chain custody and portfolio management structures against CASP authorization requirements, with specific attention to multi-signature wallet architectures where client asset access is continuous. Documented mandates include MiCA transition planning for EU-based operators mapping their path to market.

His work covers crypto licensing and VASP registration pathways, as well as international corporate structuring for offshore jurisdictions. He tracks the FATF standards on AML/CTF obligations as the compliance thread that runs across all of them.

Role at LegalBison

Adrien leads jurisdictional research pertaining to crypto regulations. Documenting internally and externally about insights and changes, he also works directly with in-house lawyers, ensuring that corporate advisory services information reflects the live regulatory environment.

Alongside this function, he contributes directly to client mandates in the crypto and corporate structuring domains, providing regulatory and structuring input within the firm’s broader service architecture as a licensed corporate service provider. His position at the boundary of editorial oversight and direct client engagement is what gives his regulatory commentary its practical grounding.

Thought Leadership and Public Engagement

Adrien has spoken on blockchain and cryptocurrency regulation in professional and academic settings. At the IA-WEB3 Conference in Angers, France (November 2024), he participated in a legal specialist panel, covering the evolution of regulatory frameworks governing blockchain technology and crypto assets.

In November 2025, he delivered a lecture at the Institut Supérieur de Gestion (ISG) business school in Nantes covering blockchain business use cases, cryptocurrencies, NFTs, real-world assets, smart contracts, and the open data paradigm for Bachelor students. His stated positioning focus is the MiCA compliance requirements and licensing frameworks.
