Legal Opinion

A legal opinion, sometimes named legal memorandum, is a document produced by a lawyer.

This document compares the facts with the law, in order to give a statement about the application of the law to the facts.

A common use case of a legal opinion is to state on the classification of a token: payment, utility or security.

To write a legal opinion, the lawyer will carefully acknowledge the presented case and compare each element with the potential applicable laws. Then, based on the different assessments, the lawyer will state on the application of the law.
